"House in the Woods"
This project presented the opportunity for our team to design a house situated on five acres, abutting a 7,000 acre Florida State Park. The design approach was to maximize the resources and potential of the site, including integration with nature, lush indigenous landscape, close and distant views, and to root the architecture within Florida's modern principles. The design embraces the soul of the natural and livable space. The house reaches out to the landscape and visually pulls the outside in. Local Florida stone walls anchor the home to the site and help define the separate access points, including the private retreat entrances and service areas.
The designers created dramatic open spaces, full of volume and natural light and a logical progression from public to private spaces.

Clean volumes interact with light while natural materials integrate carefully as an accent to reinforce special moments in the overall composition.
The folding glass wall in the main living space acts as a filter that disappears, allowing it to blur the line between the indoors and the outdoors.
The vast patio extends the length of the living space and provides a comfortable area for family gatherings via retractable screens.
